Interview #3: Blind Ambitions

I was always excited in interviewing a band band of my favorite genre.
This is the first time i had the chance for it and i'm really glad that these guys took the time for it!

So here we go, meet Blind Ambitions!

Q: How did the band start?
A: Half the members had been in a more metalcore orientated band for
about a year when we realized we didn't like the music we were playing
so that band died and the core members started BA.

Q: You play Melodic Hardcore, but could you please tell us what makes
your sound?
A: Genre is a tricky thing when it comes bands doing our sort of stuff,
we don't sound like metalcore but we aren't exactly a Hardcore band
either. I'd say bands such The Ghost Inside and For the Fallen Dreams
started a new sub genre of metal/hardcore and we're sort of following
that same sort of path.

Q: What bands inspired you?
A: We listen to a ton of music from different genres and I'd like to
think a bit of everything has leaked into it. I suppose the more
obvious influences would be stuff like The Ghost Inside and It
Prevails but we draw a lot of influence from hardcore bands like
Terror and (old) Your Demise. On the lyrical side of things my
favorite lyrics are from bands like Defeater and Have Heart but I try
to write stuff free from too much influence.

Q: Tell us about your band name, what does it mean, where does it come from?
A: Honestly when we were thinking of names someone threw it at us and we
went with, we wanted something neutral and I think it works well. I
suppose though it's the idea that we all have ambitions but at the end
of the day none of us knows where we'll end up (made that up on the
spot)

Q: Which bands are your personal favorites?
A: My all time favorite band are Misery Signals, they're the one band
that have survived my change in musical taste over the years. On the
heavy side of things I listen to a lot of Break Even, The Carrier,
Verse through to stuff like Mother of Mercy, Legend and Colossal.
Other than that I've been listening to a lot of doom jazz recently. Me
and the bassist are huge post rock fans as well, listening to 20
minutes of nothing is bang on.

Q: Is there a hidden message, you guys want to say through your music?
A: Not a hidden message as such but we all dislike the idea of people
changing or acting differently to fit into something. We love the
music we play as well as the music we don't but it seems like a lot of
people take music and their music scene a little too serious and
change their tastes and personality just to fit in, it's unnecessary,
they'd be a cooler people if they were just who they were.

Q: What things are coming up? Any news on new stuff, such as music,
merch, and so on?
A: We have plans to record and album by the end of the year, it's about
50% written.

Q: What was your sickest/best show, whats your dream venue and which
band would you like to tour with and why?
A: band would you like to tour with and why?
Best show we've ever played was in our friends uni kitchen with a load
of local bads we're mates with, it was mega hangouts and the
atmosphere was so fun. That was our dream venue. The band I'd most
like to tour with would be our local friends in Chronos because they
are the best guys and it would be 24/7 laughs, check em out!

Q: Any messages left to fans, friends, family?
A: Chronos suck.

Thanks a lot to Blind Ambitions.
